UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) earned Big Ten Women's Golfer of the Week for her efforts in the Briar's Creek Invitational, conference officials announced Wednesday. This marks the second time that Vosters has won the award, after having earned the honor last season with her sixth place finish at the 2012 Cougar Classic. This is the second time this season that a Penn State golfer has captured the award, as junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) earned the honor with her effort in the Nittany Lion Invitational.
Vosters won her first career individual championship, spring boarded by tying her career low with a final round 68. The senior was the only golfer under par for the tournament as she finished at one-under par. This is the first individual championship for the blue and white since Ceresko won the Nittany Lion Invitational in 2012.
The Bethany Beach native helped the Nittany Lions to a second place finish in the Briar's Creek Invitational. Penn State finished ahead of several ranked teams, including No. 10/11 ranked Clemson.
Penn State is back in action beginning on March 28 as the Nittany Lions travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the Bryan National Collegiate. Follow Penn State women's golf on Twitter @PennStateWGolf and on Facebook at Penn State Women's Golf.
