Penn State Set for Kepler Intercollegiate Clash

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -

The Penn State Nittany Lion golf squad will head to Columbus, Ohio April 12-13 for the 2014 Robert Kepler Intercollegiate.

Fifteen teams will compete at the 7,455-yard, par 71 Scarlet Course at the Ohio State University Golf Club. Ball State, Cleveland State, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Kent State, Liberty, Miami (OH), MIssouri, Northwestern, Oregon State, UAB, UNC Charlotte, UNLV and host team, Ohio State, will be among Penn State's competition. Kent State will be looking to defend its 2013 Kepler Intercollegiate crown.

The lineup for the Lions will feature senior captain Shane Stewart (Dublin, Ohio), junior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark), sophomores JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) and Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.), and freshman Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario).

The three-round Kepler Intercollegiate will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on April 12, followed by tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday April 13. Live stats will be available throughout the weekend.

At the conclusion of the Kepler Intercollegiate, Penn State will begin preparing for its home tournament, the Rutherford Intercollegiate, on April 19-20.
