Penn State Set for Big Ten Championships

FRENCH LICK, Ind.- The Penn State women's golf team is ready to take on their final scheduled tournament of the season as the Big Ten Championships occur this weekend in French Lick, Indiana. The three-day tournament is being played on the award winning, par 72 Pete Dye course, ranked as the No. 1 golf course in Indiana. The 54-hole competition begins on Friday, April 25 and carries through Sunday, April 27 with 18 holes being played each day. Tee times for Friday and Saturday begin at 9:00 a.m. with Sunday beginning at 8 a.m.

The field includes four teams ranked in the Top 50, according to Golfweek/Saragin rankings. Northwestern leads the way at No.12, followed by No. 25 Ohio State, No. 31 Michigan State, and No. 48 Wisconsin. Penn State is ranked No. 60. The rest of the field includes: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Purdue. Last year, both Northwestern and Purdue tied for the team title. Paula Reto of Purdue captured the individual championship.

Last season, Penn State recorded their best finish at the Big Ten's in 16 years as the Nittany Lions came in fourth. Junior Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ont.) set a career low as she finished in a tie for third and earned a spot on the All-Championships team. Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) tied for 16th place, which helped spark the blue and white into their fourth place finish.
