Former Lady Lion Gray Signs with Chicago Sky

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Former Penn State Lady Lion Zhaque Gray has signed a free agent contract with the WNBA's Chicago Sky. Training camp opens on Sunday. Gray is the sixth Lady Lion to earn a training camp invite this season, joining nine-year WNBA vet Tanisha Wright (Seattle), 2013 WNBA All-Rookie team selection Alex Bentley (Connecticut), Maggie Lucas, who was the 21st overall pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury, Ariel Edwards (Tulsa) and Nikki Greene (Los Angeles).

Earlier this month, Gray was one of 40 players that attended an open tryout session hosted by the Sky coaching staff and she is the first open tryout participant in franchise history to earn an invite to training camp. After graduation, Gray played for Wasserburg in Germany during the 2013 season and helped the team to their seventh German DBBL Championship.

Gray had a standout senior season in 2011-12 as she claimed All-Big Ten accolades for the first time in her career after averaging 10.5 points per game. Gray was 11th in the Big Ten in three-point field goal percentage (.348) during her senior year. Additionally, She set personal marks in rebounds (83) and steals (24) as a senior. She was named to the 2011 Lady Lion Classic All-Tournament team after averaging 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games. She currently ranks seventh on Penn State's career three-pointers made chart (149) and three-point field goals attempted (413). She tallied 913 points in her career and 146 assists.
