April 28, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Following a season in which they set a program record with 21 wins, the No. 24 Penn State men's tennis team is looking to secure their sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Head Coach Jeff Zinn, Assistant Coach Paul Tobin and the Nittany Lions are hosting a selection show viewing party on Tuesday, April 29 at Damon's Grill in State College. The party will begin at 4:30 p.m. with appetizers being served and the live stream of the selection show being shown at 5 p.m.

The team would like to invite alumni, fans and students to join them for the selection show as they anticipate their first tournament bid since 2008. The party is being held in the upstairs dining room. Damon's is located at 1031 East College Ave.

The 2014 NCAA Tournament selection show is being live streamed on NCAA.com. The Nittany Lions will find out who they will face in the first round of the tournament as well as the regional site that they will travel to.

Penn State is 21-5 overall and went 8-3 in the Big Ten this spring. They finished third in the conference standings, their highest finish in program history.

They also set school records with 10 wins over ranked opponents and went undefeated at home, finishing with a 15-0 mark. Penn State also won five matches on the road, all against ranked opponents.

The Nittany Lions are led this season by sophomore Leonard Stakhovsky (Kiev, Ukraine) and Russell Bader (Austin, Texas), who were named First and Second Team All-Big Ten selections, respectively. It marked the first time in program history that Penn State had two All-Big Ten honorees in the same year.
