UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Members of the Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics staff gathered on Wednesday for ICA's fourth annual awards program. Four awards are announced at the end of year wrap-up meeting to honor members of the ICA staff who have demonstrated exemplary and dedicated service by contributing their time, talents, efforts and passion in support of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics.
These awards include: the Exceptional Service Award, the Espirit de Corps Award, the Diversity and Inclusiveness Award and the Friends of Penn State Outstanding Contribution Award.
Director of Ticketing Operations Bud Meredith claimed the Exceptional Service Award for outstanding leadership, integrity and positive representation of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and the University as a whole.
The Espirit de Corps Award went to two dedicated employees as Administrative Support Assistant Tammy Davis and Coordinator of Intramural Athletic Programs Jill Garrigan both earned honors for displaying passion, pride and spirit, which helps raise the morale of the entire Penn State Intercollegiate Athletic Department and the community it serves.
A Collection and Exhibit Technical Specialist at the Penn State All-Sports Museum, Aimee Brown-Shadduck was named the Diversity and Inclusiveness Award winner after championing several projects to emphasize the importance of diversity in the Penn State community.
Athletics staff photographer and Digital Imaging Coordinator Mark Selders was presented with the Friends of Penn State Outstanding Contribution Award, which goes to a Penn State community partner who significantly contributes in the successful operations of Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics and helps ICA positively represent the university as a whole.
Penn State has won three NCAA Championships in 2013-14, its most since winning three in 1999-2000, and has tied its school record by capturing eight Big Ten titles for the second consecutive year. The Nittany Lions' 16 combined Big Ten championships the past two years are easily the highest total in the conference (Michigan is next with nine). Penn State student-athletes have an 88 percent graduation rate, according to the most recent NCAA data.
