Juniors Sell Out Allotment in 35 Minutes as Penn State Student Football Season Ticket Sale Hits Halfway Point

June 24, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -

The 2014 Penn State student football season ticket sale is off to another sold out start, as the senior and junior classes and Nittany Lion graduate students have exhausted their allotments during the first two days of the sale.

Today's junior class allotment was sold out in 35 minutes after the 7 a.m. start, according to Jeff Garner, Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing Sales and Service.

The sophomore class sale will begin Wednesday, June 25 at 7 a.m. and the freshmen will close the student sale Thursday, June 26 starting at 7 a.m.

Penn State sophomores and freshmen who want to be part of the passion and pride of the energetic student section for James Franklin's first season as head coach should prepare for the sale to ensure the smoothest experience possible. Earlier this month, students received an email with more specific sale information pertaining to them, including the direct link to purchase. The student football season ticket sale is online only.

Eligibility and the daily schedule are posted at Student Central: www.GoPSUsports.com/studentcentral.

Intercollegiate Athletics again recommends that all students eligible to participate thoroughly review all sale instructions before their assigned ticket sale date. Students should also consider printing out a copy of the Quick Start sale instructions that will are posted for reference while purchasing their ticket. Individual sale dates are determined by credits earned by May 29, 2014. It is suggested students check their class standing prior to their sale at: http://www.registrar.psu.edu/registration/semester_classification.cfm. All sales will occur online.

More than 21,000 student football full season tickets, one of the nation's largest, are available for the Nittany Lions' 2014 campaign. Students looking forward to being part of what ESPN The Magazine called "The Nation's No. 1 Student Section," will witness a home schedule that includes a pair of top 10 teams from last year in Ohio State (Oct. 25, 8 p.m.) and Michigan State (Nov. 29-Senior Day), Homecoming foe Northwestern (Sept. 27) and new Big Ten member Maryland (Nov. 1). Akron (Sept. 6), Massachusetts (Sept. 20) and Temple (Nov. 15) also will visit Beaver Stadium this fall.

The online sale is open only to full-time registered students with each class being allocated a specific amount of tickets. A "Sold Out" message will be posted to Student Central when ticket resources have been exhausted for that day's respective class sale.

Students may also purchase the official 2014 Penn State White Out T-shirt or join the Student Nittany Lion Club and begin earning NLC points during this week's sale. The 2014 student prices will be the same as last year: $218 for a season ticket (7 games), $20 for White Out T-shirt, and $25 for a Student Nittany Lion Club membership.

Franklin was named Penn State's 16th head football coach on January 11. A product of Langhorne, Pa., Franklin led Vanderbilt University to unprecedented success the past three years as head coach, including consecutive nine-win seasons and bowl victories the past two years, as well as back-to-back Top 25 finishes, all for the first time in Vanderbilt history. In his 20th year of coaching, Franklin was a two-time All-PSAC quarterback at East Stroudsburg University and set or tied 23 school records.

Penn State returns 40 letterwinners and 15 starters (7 offense, 7 defense, 1 specialist) for the upcoming season. The Nittany Lions open the season Aug. 30 vs. UCF in the Croke Park Classic in Dublin, Ireland.
