UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State Athletics Marketing Department is searching for National Anthem singers for upcoming athletic events. Auditions will take place on Facebook and Twitter from August 25, 2014 until September 8, 2014. The athletic events may include men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball, and field hockey.
To try out, each individual must provide a link to YouTube or a sound bite of an a cappella (without music) version of the Star Spangled Banner in which singing duration should not exceed 90 seconds (1:30). Applicants must publicly share his or her audition via Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #PSUAnthem.
Anyone is eligible to tryout to become an anthem singer for Penn State Athletics. There are no age requirements. Solo artists, duets and musicians are also encouraged to audition. National Anthem singers will be requested as needed, and that by auditioning, singers are not guaranteed an opportunity to sing at an event.
Accepted applicants will be notified via direct message through the social platform that he or she auditioned through.
