UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 1 Penn State women's volleyball will broadcast live on both the Big Ten Network and ESPN3 eight times during the 2014 season, as announced by the Big Ten Conference this afternoon. Penn State's 2014 TV schedule features a total of seven matches on the Big Ten Network with one more slated for ESPN3.
The Nittany Lions make their BTN debut on the road at No. 6 Wisconsin in a rematch of the NCAA national finals Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
PSU's match at No. 12 Minnesota Saturday, Sept. 27 will air live on ESPN3 at 8 p.m. and then again on tape delay the next afternoon (Sept. 28) at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.
The Big Ten Network will televise both of Penn State's matches against No. 7 Nebraska, beginning with the first meeting between the two teams in Lincoln Friday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. and ending with the Nittany Lions' regular season home finale Saturday, Nov. 29 at 8:30 p.m.
Three other matches will broadcast on BTN live from Happy Valley including Penn State's clashes with Northwestern Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m., Michigan Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. and Ohio State Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m.
Additionally, Penn State's road test at No. 8 Purdue Friday, Oct. 17 will also air live on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m.
Entering his 36th season at the helm of the program, five-time AVCA DI National Coach of the Year Russ Rose returns four starters and 11 letterwinners from the 2013 squad, as well as a highly talented class of eight newcomers. Two-time first team AVCA All-American Micha Hancock (Edmond, Okla.) and AVCA All-America honorable mention Nia Grant (Warren, Ohio) highlight the class of top returners along with experienced starters Megan Courtney (Dayton, Ohio) and Dominique Gonzalez (San Antonio, Texas).
Penn State opens the 2014 campaign at home in Rec Hall Aug. 29-30, hosting Big 12 opponent TCU, Iona and William & Mary in the Penn State Classic. The Nittany Lions begin the season Friday, Aug. 29 with a matchup against the Horned Frogs at 7:30 p.m. in Rec Hall.
Both single-match and season tickets for the 2014 Penn State women's volleyball season are now on sale and available for purchase by calling 1-800-NITTANY or by visiting the Athletics Ticket Office in the Bryce Jordan Center during normal business hours. Season tickets are priced at $84.00 for adults and $56.00 for youth ages 12 and under.
