UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Highlighted by a series of matchups at the Penn State Lacrosse Field, the Nittany Lion women's lacrosse team's 2014 fall schedule has been announced by head coach Missy Doherty.
Penn State will open the fall campaign Sunday, Oct. 5 when it competes at the Play for Parkinson's Tournament at Episcopal High School in Fairfax, Virginia. The Nittany Lions will get their first glimpse of new Big Ten member Maryland (8 a.m.), as well as Georgetown (9:25 a.m.) and Duke (10:40 a.m.).
The following weekend, Penn State will host a trio of teams in Happy Valley. The Nittany Lions will play Syracuse (1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.), Cornell (1 p.m.) and Big Ten foe Rutgers (3:45 p.m.) Saturday, Oct. 11. All Penn State matchups will be held at the Penn State Lacrosse Field.
The Nittany Lions will then conclude their fall schedule Sunday, Oct. 19 when they travel to Towson, Maryland, for a matchup against the Tigers.
After the fall , Penn State women's lacrosse will compete as an official Big Ten Conference member in 2015 after the league added Maryland and Rutgers to the now 14-team league. Along with the previously mentioned programs, Michigan, Northwestern and Ohio State sponsor women's lacrosse.
