Women's Golf Continues Play at the Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - After the second day of the Cougar Classic, the Penn State women's golf team moved into 19th place. The Nittany Lions posted a team score of 300 (+12) on the second day of competition, lowering the team score by seven strokes from the first round of play.

In round two, freshman Ariana Coyle Diaz (Mount Merrion, Ireland) carded a 34 (-2) on the front nine and led Penn State with a 73 (+1). Senior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) continued her strong play with three birdies and 10 pars on the day en route to a 74 (+2). Heading into the final round, she sits in 31st individually. Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) and Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) finished with a 76 (+4) and a 77 (+5), respectively. Morell finished the front nine with a one-under 35. Catherine Herrera (Houston, Texas) rounded out the Nittany Lions individuals with an 81 (+9).

Arkansas took the tournament lead from Wake Forest after the second round. The Razorbacks are nine-under (567) for the tournament after finishing the day with a four-under 284. Wake Forest trails by two strokes with a two-day total of seven-under 569, which is tied with UCLA. Wake Forest player Sierra Sims held onto the individual after shooting a 68 (-4).
