ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - The Penn State men's golf team finished tied for fifth out of 15 at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Friday behind junior JD Dornes' (Lancaster, Pa.) three-round mark of 222 (75-75-72). The Nittany Lions posted a 300-304-302 to finish with a 906 overall at the Wolf Run Golf Club in Zionsville, Ind.
Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) and sophomore Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.) finished side-by-side with a tied-for-19th placing. Miller and Cox fired a pair of 227's to contribute to the Penn State team tally.
Senior Jens Talbert (Litte Rock, Ark.) finished tied for 30th in the field of 85 with a 230 (74-76-80). Freshman Josh Rinehart (York, Pa.) shot a 54-hole score of 248 in his second collegiate golf appearance.
Illinois never relinquished its lead, earning the 2014 Wolf Run Intercollegiate Championship title by a 30-stroke margin with a 859. The Fighting Illini also secured the first two individual places, as Brian Campbell and Charlie Danielson shot a 209 and 212, respectively.
The Nittany Lions will continue their 2014-15 campaign at the Primland Invitational Sept. 29-30.
