ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) fired a career-best 18-hole score of 66 in the second round Saturday at the Wolverine Intercollegiate to place him tied for second overall. Penn State is tied for fifth heading into the final round of play with a 576 (289-287).

A trio of Nittany Lions posted 147's on the day for tied-for-31st placings, including senior Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.), freshman Josh Rinehart (York, Pa.) and freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.), who is playing as an individual. Junior Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) is a stroke behind and is tied for 36th.

Sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) posted a 151 on the day and will start round three tied for 52nd.

Host team University of Michigan holds a steady lead among the field with a 558 tally. Chris O'Neill of the Wolverines marked a 133 score through 36 holes for the first place ranking heading into Sunday.
