Penn State in Seventh Mid-Round at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

Oct. 10, 2014 JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - The first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate was suspended early Friday due to heavy rain. Penn State holds a seventh place ranking going into Saturday morning, when the 15-team field will wrap up the first 18 holes and continue on to round two. The Nittany Lions shot an even par team score of 266 at the Blackthorn Club before the delay.

Junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) carded a 2-under 59 through the first 15 holes and stands tied for fourth. Senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) was able to complete the entirety of his first round, making par with a 72.

Sophomores Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.) and Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) are both tied for 40th, with Elliott finishing all holes with a 1-over 73. Cox has three holes remaining with a 1-over 62.

Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) also has three holes remaining and will go into Saturday morning with 65 strokes.

Will Zalatoris of Wake Forest holds the lead with a 4-under 48 through 13 holes, as his team is also ahead of the field with a 7-under total as play currently stands.
