Softball Garners NFCA Academic Honors

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State softball team was honored as a 2013-14 NFCA Division I All-Academic Team and three Nittany Lions garnered All-America Scholar-Athlete status, the NFCA announced today.

In head coach Amanda Lehotak's first season, her club amassed a 3.06 grade point average during the 2013-14 school year for the NFCA Division I All-Academic Team recognition. Individually, Shannon Good, Alicia Walker and Reina Furuya earned NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete accolades for posting at least a 3.5 grade point average.

On the conference level, nine 2014 Nittany Lions were named Academic All-Big Ten.

Penn State continues fall play this weekend with 1 p.m. doubleheaders at Beard Field on Sat., Oct. 4 and Sun., Oct. 5. The Blue and White welcome Bellevue, coached by Lehotak's sister, Michala Cimino, on Saturday, and Bucknell on Sunday. All fall games are free of charge.
