UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey senior midfielder Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.) has been selected to the 2014 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game, it was announced Wednesday. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 22 and will be hosted by the University of Maryland in College Park, Md., at 3 p.m.
One of 38 players selected, the U.S. National Team member has started in all 80 games she has played in since arriving on campus as a freshman. She is a three-time NFHCA All-American, earning second team honors in 2012 and 2013, and garnering third team accolades as a freshman in 2011. Currently, Gebhart has 44 career assists, which are two away from tying her for seventh on Penn State's all-time list and three from tying her for sixth.
This season, the team captain has scored eight goals and tallied six assists. The eight goals mark Gebhart's season-high and the six assists rank second on the team. On Oct.14 against Bucknell, the senior recorded her first career hat trick, scoring all three goals in the first 18:46 of the game.
Gebhart and the Nittany Lions host No. 8 Northwestern on Friday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m., their final regular season home game of the 2014 campaign. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.
