Penn State Set to Travel to Temple University

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams will open up their collegiate action this weekend at the Temple Open in Philadelphia, Pa. tomorrow, November 1st. The competition will take place in the Temple Student Pavilion. This weekend's Temple Open will serve as the Nittany Lions first collegiate competition of the season.

Women's epee will be represented by freshmen Sara Moore (Woodbridge, Va.), and Julia Higson (State College, Pa.). This weekend's women's foil competitors include freshmen Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J.), and Kasey Iverson (Baskin Ridge, N.J.), and sophomores Desree Ortega-Furgeson (Wyoming, Mich.) and Daniella Ortiz (Bayside, N.Y.). Lastly, the women's saber competitors include freshmen Kathryn Charpin (Setauket, N.Y.) and Jacqueline Rozpedowski (Flemington, N.J.).

Men's epee competitors for this weekend include sophomores Lars Swanson (Mendham, N.J.) and Oskar Tang (Stockholm, Sweden). Men's foil competitors include freshman Stephen Barnett (Clinton, Conn.). Lastly, men's saber competitors include seniors Michael Brand (Needham, Mass.), Gaspar Lesznik (Wyckoff, N.J.), and Seth Levine (Port Matilda, Pa.) as well as freshmen Alejandro Andrade (Quito, Ecuador) and Khalil Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.)

Following the Temple Open, head coach Wes Glon's Nittany Lions will travel to Louisville, Ky. for the North American Cup competition on November 7th.
