UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Redshirt junior Britt Eckerstrom (Germantown, Md.) was named a Big Ten Women's Soccer Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her performances in wins against Minnesota and No. 13 Wisconsin.
This is the first weekly honor of Eckerstrom's career.
Eckerstrom recorded clean sheets in both of No. 7 Penn State's games this weekend. In a 2-0 win at No. 13 Wisconsin, she made four saves to keep the Badgers off the board. In addition, Eckerstrom played all 90 minutes of the Nittany Lions' 1-0 victory over Minnesota. The wins extended Penn State's perfect Big Ten record to 7-0.
Eckerstrom has not allowed a goal in her last 200 minutes on the pitch. A major part of Penn State's outstanding defense this season, Penn State has only allowed more than one goal in one match this season.
The Nittany Lions host Rutgers on Sat., Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. The match will be broadcasted on the Big Ten Network.
