UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Nov. 21, 2014 - Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) tallied two points and Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) made 21 saves for her first career shutout in a 3-0 College Hockey America (CHA) win on Friday night over Lindenwood at Pegula Ice Arena.

The Nittany Lion (7-5-3, 2-2-1 CHA) offense came out in the first period firing, but Lindenwood's (3-7-1, 2-2-1 CHA) Nicole Hensley kept Penn State off the board in the first 20 minutes of play with 14 saves.

The scoreless tie continued midway through the second period until Bowman broke through for the Blue and White. From the corner, Caitlin Reilly (Chanhassen, Minn.) was found a wide-open Bowman in front of the net for her seventh of the year and the eventual game-winner.

After being outshot by the Lions 10-6 in the second period, the Penn State offense took charge and posted two quick goals in the third period to give them a 3-0 lead.

Jordin Pardoski (Rochester Hills, Mich.) fired a shot from the blue line and Hensley made the initial save. Reilly followed up on the rebound, which Hensley stopped, but Hannah Bramm (Tampa, Fla.) was able put the puck into the back of the net for the 2-0 score. Bramm's first of the year was scored just one second after the conclusion of a Nittany Lion powerplay.

But the game continued to fall in Penn State's favor. On Bramm's goal, Carrie Atkinson was called for charging and it only took 38 seconds for the Blue and White to add to its lead.

Bella Sutton (Shoreview, Minn.) worked the puck down low to Bowman in front of the net and Bowman fired a shot, but was stopped by Hensley. Shannon Yoxheimer (Jackson, Mich.) scooped up the rebound and, with 10:34 left to play, netted her fifth of the year for the final 3-0 score.

In the contest, Penn State outshot Lindenwood, 31-21.

Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) made 21 saves to improve her record to 4-4-0, while Hensley took the loss and fell to 3-7-1.

The two-game series between Lindenwood and Penn State comes to a close tomorrow at 2 p.m. inside the Pegula Ice Arena.
