HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Penn State women's hockey team produced the first road series sweep in program history after besting Colgate 3-1 on Saturday. Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minnesota) netted a pair of goals in the win, her second two-goal outing in as many games.

The series sweep was the team's first on the road in Penn State women's hockey history, and the Nittany Lions' (5-4-3) nine goals during the weekend was a two-game high this season.

After entering the second period trailing 1-0, the Blue and White drew its second penalty of the frame 11 minutes in. Shannon Yoxheimer (Jackson, Michigan) threw the puck at the net and it ricocheted in to the nearside corner. Bowman collected the rebound from Yoxheimer and took a sharp-angled shot in to the upper righthand corner of the net for the game-tying goal.

With two minutes left in the period, Penn State snatched a lead it wouldn't relinquish. Kelly Seward (Williamsville, New York) picked up the puck in the neutral zone and flipped it to Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minnesota). She then skated the puck down the nearside boards and dished it to Bowman, streaking towards the net, for her second of the game and the 2-1 game-winner.

Sarah Nielsen (Edina, Minnesota) tacked on Penn State's third goal of the game with a minute left in regulation, an empty-netter from her own blueline for the final 3-1 score.

Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minnesota) made 21 saves, improving her record to 2-1-3.

Penn State heads to Rochester, N.Y. to take on RIT on Fri., Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 15 at 3 p.m.
