Lion Wrestlers Hold Steady in Latest National Rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team, under the guidance of head coach Cael Sanderson, continues to hold steady in the latest Intermat national rankings. Eight Penn State individuals are ranked at their respective weights and Sanderson's team sits at No. 5 in Intermat's Tournament Power Index (TPI).

Junior Jordan Conaway (Abbottstown, Pa.) is ranked No. 10 at 125 with a 7-0 record. Sophomore Jimmy Gulibon (Latrobe, Pa.) holds the No. 5 spot at 133 with a 7-0 mark. Sophomore Zack Beitz (Mifflintown, Pa.) is 4-1 at 149 and ranked No. 13. Senior Dylan Alton (Mill Hall, Pa.) is ranked No. 9 at 157 but has yet to see any action this season.

Senior Matt Brown (West Valley City, Utah) is ranked No. 2 at 174 and is 7-0 on the year. Red-shirt freshman Matt McCutcheon (Apollo, Pa.) is 11-3 overall and has moved up to No. 18 at 184. Junior Morgan McIntosh (Santa Ana, Calif.) is 8-0 at 197 and ranked No. 4 and senior Jon Gingrich (Wingate, Pa.) is ranked No. 8 at 285 with a 4-0 mark. Penn State is 4-0 overall, 1-0 B1G, after winning its Big Ten opener at Maryland last Thursday, 38-3. Penn State returns to action on Friday, Dec. 19, when Virginia Tech visits Rec Hall for a 7 p.m. match-up of top-ten squads.
