Rodriguez Earns Scholar All-America Status

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Dec. 17, 2014 - Adding to her impressive list of accolades from the 2014 campaign, Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America second team.

Rodriguez is the only Big Ten student-athlete to be named a Scholar All-American. She is the 13th Nittany Lion to garner Scholar All-America status.

Rodriguez maintains a 3.84 grade point average as a Recreation, Park and Tourism Management major. The junior was recently nominated for the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Female Player of the Year award, the only amateur player nominated for a Player of the Year award. As a member of the Costa Rican Women's National Team, she helped Las Ticas make history by becoming the first Central American country to qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup.

The 2014 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year and NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region first team honoree was an integral part in the Nittany Lions' 10th NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal appearance. In 1,278 minutes on the pitch over 18 games played, she netted a career-high seven goals and took 37 shots.
