NEW YORK, N.Y.; December 24, 2014 - A pair of former Penn State standouts -- Tamba Hali and Cameron Wake -- have been named to the 2015 Pro Bowl to continue their Pro Bowl selection streaks.
An outside linebacker with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hali was selected to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl. A defensive end with the Miami Dolphins, Wake earns his fourth Pro Bowl berth in the past five seasons and third consecutive.
The Pro Bowl is January 25, 2015 in Glendale, Ariz.
Hali is in his ninth season with the Chiefs, helping Kansas City to an 8-7 record and alive for an AFC playoff berth. A starter in the 2013 Pro Bowl, Hali was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Hali was a consensus first-team All-American at Penn State in 2005.
In his sixth season with Miami, Wake was selected a starter for the 2011 and 2013 Pro Bowls. He has been instrumental in helping the Dolphins to an 8-7 record. Wake is one of only two players in Dolphins' history to earn a Pro Bowl berth at two different positions.
Nearly 30 former Nittany Lions are with NFL teams. Penn State annually is among the top 15 schools nationally in producing current NFL players.
A total of 335 Nittany Lions have been selected all-time in the NFL Draft, including 36 in the first round. Thirty-six Penn State football student-athletes have been drafted since 2006, including 16 in the first three rounds.
Super Bowl XLVIII marked the 43rd time in the NFL Championship contest's 48-game history that at least one Penn State alumnus was a member of one of the participating teams. Former Nittany Lion standouts Jordan Hill and Michael Robinson helped capped off a dominant playoff run for Seattle with a victory in Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos. In all, 37 former Nittany Lions have earned a total of 54 Super Bowl rings.
Coach James Franklin's Nittany Lions and Boston College will clash in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 27 in their 24th all-time meeting and Penn State's 45th bowl appearance. The teams last met in 2004. The New Era Pinstripe Bowl will kick at 4:30 p.m. ET in Yankee Stadium (49,542) and air on ESPN, the Penn State Sports Network and GoPSUsports.com.
Penn State students, Nittany Lion Club and Penn State Alumni Association members have purchased more than 11,000 tickets for the Pinstripe Bowl, including nearly 1,300 student tickets.
