UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Jan. 24, 2015 - Four members of the Penn State women's soccer team begin training with the U.S. Under-20 Women's National Team by participating in a week-long camp in Sanford, Fla., running Sat., Jan. 24 through Sat., Jan. 31.
Freshmen Maddie Elliston (Omaha, Neb.), Rose Chandler (Atlanta, Ga.) and Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio), and incoming Nittany Lion Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.) are among the 28 players invited to the camp. The age group, born on or after Jan. 1, 1996, is focused on qualifying for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
Chandler and Riehl are two of four camp attendees who were members of the U.S. Under-20 team that competed at the U-20 Women's World Cup in 2014. Ogle was a member of the 2014 U.S. U-18 Women's National Team and the 2010 U-14 National Team, while Elliston attended the 2014 U.S. U-18 Women's National Team training camp.
During the camp, the team will exhibition against Frauen-Bundesliga side Bayern Munich on Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Seminole Soccer Complex. The U-20 team also plays the University of Florida on Fri., Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Seminoles' facility.
