UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - The Penn State Lady Lions (5-16, 2-8) travel to Piscataway for the first time 1997 to take on #22/23 Rutgers (15-5, 6-3) at noon on Sunday. The game will air live on the Big Ten Network with Ed Cohen and Vera Jones on the call.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Lady Lions came out strong to open the second half to erase a halftime deficit with a 20-3 run, but Minnesota rallied past the Lions for a 75-64 win Wednesday night.
- Penn State committed a season-low 11 turnovers, but were burned by the Gophers from three-point range and at the free throw line.
- Sophomore Peyton Whitted was 7-for-14 from the field en route to a career-high 16 points with six rebounds and a block.
- Freshman Lindsey Spann also had 16 points to go along with five assists and a steal.
- Junior Candice Agee continued her solid play with 12 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots, while senior Tori Waldner had a near double-double with nine points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
SCOUTING RUTGERS
- The Scarlet Knights are ranked 22nd in this week's AP poll and 23rd in the USA Today Sports Coaches poll with a 15-5 overall and 6-3 in Big Ten play.
- Tyler Scaife leads three Rutgers averaging double figures with a 16.0 per game mark to go along with 2.3 assists and 1.4 steals per outing.
- Betnijah Laney is averaging a double-double with 15.7 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. She ranks second in the conference in rebounding and 11th in scoring.
- Kahleah Copper also accounts for double figures in the scoring column with a 15.2 average with 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.
- Syessence Davis leads the defensive effort for the Scarlet Knights with a Big Ten-leading 3.5 steals per game.
ALL-TIME VERSUS THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
- The Lady Lions are 18-21 all-time against Rutgers, but have won five of the last eight meetings.
- Penn State is 6-11 all-time in road games against the Scarlet Knights.
- The Scarlet Knights won the first meeting as Big Ten opponents with a 71-51 win on Jan. 10.
LAST TIME VERSUS RU
- In their first meeting as Big Ten foes, the Lady Lions couldn't overcome the high-pressure #24/23 Rutgers defense in their 71-51 setback on Jan. 10 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
- Freshman Lindsey Spann led the way for the Lady Lions with 18 points, followed by 12 from Sierra Moore and 10 tallies Candice Agee.
- In addition to her 12 points, Moore had three assists and three steals, while Agee, who was 5-for-7 from the field, also grabbed six rebounds, dished out two assists and had a block.
- Senior Tori Waldner and sophomore Peyton Whitted each pulled down a team-best eight rebounds.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
- The Lady Lions have found success on Super Bowl Sunday in their program history, going 16-7 all-time on Super Sunday.
- Penn State has won its last three games on Super Bowl Sunday, including a 79-75 win at Northwestern on Feb. 2, 2014.
- The two teams have never met on Super Bowl Sunday.
McDONALD'S REUNION
- Sunday's game will reunite six McDonald's High School All-Americans that played with or against each other between the two teams.
- Penn State's Brianna Banks was on the West squad in 2011, while Betnijah Laney and Briyona Canty were teammates on the East team.
- The Penn State duo of Candice Agee and Sierra Moore played in the 2012 McDonald's All-American game with Rutgers' Kahleah Copper.
- Agee was on the West team, while Moore and Rutgers played for the East.
SOLID SHOWING IN THE TWIN CITIES
- Despite the final outcome, the Lady Lions had a strong showing in Minnesota on Jan. 28.
- Penn State had a season-low 11 turnovers and outrebounded the Golden Gophers, 51-44.
- Additionally, the Lady Lions connected on 11 of 12 free throws for a season-high 91.7 percent.
- Sophomore Peyton Whitted posted her third-straight double-digit outing with a career-high 16 points, while freshman Lindsey Spann notched her 17th double figure game with 16 tallies.
WHITTED WARMING UP
- After a slow start to the season, sophomore Peyton Whitted seems to be heating up as January draws to a close.
- In her last three games, Whitted is averaging a team-best 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks with a 60.7 percent effort from the field.
- She reached double figures in the scoring column in consecutive games for the first time in her career on Thursday vs. Indiana and Sunday vs. Northwestern. She extended it to three consecutive double-digit performances against Minnesota.
- Whitted tallied a career-high 16 points at Minnesota after scoring 11 points against the Wildcats on Jan. 25 and 12 points versus Indiana on Jan. 22.
- In the first 18 games of the season, Whitted averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game with a 31.5 shooting percentage.
The 2014-15 Penn State Lady Lion Basketball season is presented by Kish Travel and Kish Insurance. The Lady Lions are back in the BJC against Maryland on Thursday, Feb. 5.
