UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; Feb. 11, 2015 - The Penn State women's soccer team released a challenging spring slate that features matches against National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) opponents and 2014 NCAA Tournament participants.

"Looking at the quality of our opponents, we're trying to challenge ourselves as much as possible this spring," head coach Erica Walsh said. "We have a strong group of returning players and have introduced four new ones this spring. We believe that the quality of competition we face will prepare us well for the fall."

The Nittany Lions open their spring schedule on March 1 with a doubleheader in Holuba Hall. A 2 p.m. match against Colgate kicks off the two-game set, followed by a 4 p.m. match versus Bucknell.

Penn State meets Sky Blue FC and 2014 volunteer assistant coach Maya Hayes in Palmyra, Pa., on March 25 for an 8 p.m. match.

Three days later on March 28, the Blue and White visit Virginia Tech, who Penn State ousted in the third round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament.

The Nittany Lions face their second NWSL team of the spring season on April 4, when they duel with the Western New York Flash.

The six-game schedule concludes on April 15 with a 7:30 p.m. match on Jeffrey Field against St. Francis.

Putting up its seventh 20-win season, the Blue and White won its 16th conference title in 17 years, a record unmatched by any Division I program.
