Feb. 13, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team will return to the links at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla. for the Big Ten Match Play Championship Feb. 15-16.

Headlining the Nittany Lion roster will be senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.), who is making his fourth consecutive Big Ten Match Play appearance. Juniors JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) and Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) will add to the Lions' veteran tournament experience, as Vartelas will play for his third consecutive year and Dornes his second.

Sophomores Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) and Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.) and freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) will round out the team's lineup Sunday.

No. 6 seed Penn State will face off against No. 11 seed and defending champion Minnesota to open match play Sunday morning. The Blue and White will play a second match in the afternoon, followed by a third competition Monday.

Last year, the Nittany Lions dropped their first two match ups before overcoming Nebraska on the second day of the tournament, which was then held in Bradenton, Fla.

Live scoring for the event will be available on www.ajga.org and recaps will be posted after each day of the event on the men's golf page of www.GoPSUsports.com.
