BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Penn State softball team fell in its final two games of the FAU Kick-Off Tournament by scores of 8-0 to Kansas and then 7-0 to host Florida Atlantic, Sunday morning.

The Lions' contest with the Owls was a continuation of a suspended game from Friday that was halted in the third inning due to heavy rain. Meanwhile the KU and PSU game started with a first pitch time of 9 a.m. at the FAU Softball complex.

Kansas got out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first game following back-to back three run innings in the second and third, chasing starter Marissa Diescher (Livingston Manor, N.Y.) out of the game. Christy Von Pusch (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) and Macy Jones (Ashburn, Va.) finished up pitching duties for Penn State who was held hitless through the five inning contest and ultimately was dealt its first loss of the young season.

The Owls and Nittany Lions picked up their resumed game shortly after the Kansas contest and started in the Top of the third with no one out and a 3-1 count to the FAU batter with freshman Jessica Cummings (Owing, Md.) in the circle.

After a scoreless third, the Owls quickly gained the upper hand, plating four in their half of the fourth to make it 6-0. FAU tacked on one more in the seventh before closing out Penn State, who was actually acting as the home team in FAU's stadium by a 7-0 score.

The two losses on Sunday makes Penn State 3-2 on the young season as the Nittany Lions will look to get back their winning ways next weekend in the Lone Star State as they take on Missouri State, Eastern Michigan and host Texas A&M in the Aggie Classic Feb. 13-15 in College Station.
