Field Hockey Earns Team Academic Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State field hockey team has received a 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for success in the classroom, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday.

The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.

On the field, the Nittany Lions finished with 16-or-more wins for the 16th time under head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss. It marked the squad's 30th all-time NCAA appearance, ranking third all-time, and the fifth-straight showing for Penn State. The Nittany Lions made it to at least the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament for the 19th time in the 30 total appearances.
