Nittany Lions Head to Florida for Hurricane Invitational

March 1, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's golf team is off to sunny Florida as they prepare to compete in the Hurricane Invitational for their first event of the spring season. The Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami, is a three-day tournament that will be played from Monday, March 2 through Wednesday, March 4 at the Biltmore golf course. The course will play at a total of 6,070 yards with a par of 71.

The Nittany Lions are among the 15 teams partaking in the tournament, including four teams from the Big Ten. The teams playing in the Hurricane Invitational are: Campbell, Daytona State, East Carolina, Iowa State, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Purdue, and South Florida.

Senior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) will make her return to the lineup Monday after an elbow injury at the Nittany Lion Invitational sidelined her for the remainder of the fall season. Fellow seniors Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) and Catherine Herrera (Houston, Texas) will join Ceresko to form an experienced lineup. Juniors Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) and Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) round out the squad and will both look to keep up their impressive play form from the fall season. Also competing in the event is Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio), who will be playing as an individual.

Monday's tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. with teams teeing of both the first and 10th hole.

Live scoring will be available on Birdiefire.com.

Following the Hurricane Invitational, the Nittany Lions will remain in Florida to participate in the Gator Invitational from Friday, March 6-Sunday, March 8.
