Men's Golf Completes Day One of Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Nittany Lion men's golf squad shot a 293 in the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Southwood Golf Course Friday morning behind a 1-under 71 tally from sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario). Penn State will enter the second round in 14th place at 9:20 a.m. Saturday.

Senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) will hit the round two links two strokes behind Elliott with a 73, while junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) notched 74 strokes on the first 18 holes.

Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) shot a 75 on the day, followed by sophomore Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.) who shot an 81.

Junior Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.), playing as an individual, will begin day two of play with 78 strokes.

East Tennessee State leads the 17-team field with a 12-under 276 team tally.
