TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Penn State men's golf team posted an 875 (293-291-291) at the Seminole Intercollegiate to finish 13th overall in a 17-team field Sunday morning.
Sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) lead the Nittany Lions with a tied-for-15 overall finish. Elliott fired a 4-under 212 (71-69-72) on the Southwood Golf Course.
Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) improved his finish by three places on the final 18 holes, shooting a 218 three-round tally and ranking tied for 40th. Junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) recorded his best round of play on day three with 71 strokes to end with a 222 and tied-for-55th placing.
Senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) completed the tournament a stroke behind Dornes with a 223 (73-74-76) mark through 54 holes. Rounding out the starters for Penn State was sophomore Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.), who posted a 241.
Junior Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.) notched a 225 to finish tied for 67th as an individual.
Host Florida State managed to edge East Tennessee State for the championship by just three strokes, as the Seminoles shot a tournament-best single-round score of 271 on the final day of play.
The Nittany Lions return to their spring slate on March 22 when they head to Williamsburg, Va. for the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate.
