UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State softball team has released its 2015 promotional schedule and from home run and double play innings to koozie and inflatable beach ball giveaways there is a little something for every fan to enjoy during the 18 home dates the team has at Beard Field this season.
The home slate officially begins this Wednesday, Mar. 18 at 6 p.m., when the Nittany Lions take on intrastate rival Pittsburgh in the 2015 home opener. Schedule posters will be available for fans to take home and the first 300 in attendance will receive a free cup of hot chocolate.
The giveaways continue this weekend at the start of B1G play when Northwestern comes to town for a three game series. Fans will be able to grab posters as well as the official 50th anniversary schedule magnet during each game.
Alumni weekend is slated for Apr. 10 - 12 vs. Indiana and will feature many great giveaways such as PSU softball car magnets, koozies and beach balls as well as a pre-game tailgate (Apr. 11).
Season ticket holders will also have a night scheduled in their honor on Wednesday, Apr. 22 for a doubleheader with St. Francis (Pa.)., where they will receive a special memento crafted exclusively for them.
The final home series of the season vs. Rutgers (Apr. 24-26) features a slew of promotions such as Bark in the Park and a water bottle giveaway (Apr. 24) as well as senior day (Apr. 25), complete with softball trading cards and headband giveaways.
Sunday, April 26 is the home finale at Nittany Lion Softball Park and will be the team's annual pink day with softball sun glasses for fans in addition to a post-game clinic for kids 12 and younger.
Throughout the season there will be several reoccurring promotions such as dollar dog and winning weeknights (Mar. 25, Apr. 1, 7, 22) as well weekend games where kids can create signs at specially designated stations to cheer on the team or their favorite player.
The team will also hold special autograph sessions following each Sunday contest and kids 12 and younger can run the bases following each Saturday home date.
During each game fans will be able to participate in inning-by-inning promotions such as the Home Delivery Home Run and Double Play innings as well as Uncle Chen's Trivia Challenge.
