Nittany Lions Women's Golf Finishes First Round of Spring Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Nittany Lions women's golf team wrapped up its first round of the spring season today, finishing tied for ninth place after the opening round of the Hurricane Invitational with a total of 297 strokes (+13). The second round of play will be played tomorrow beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Florida.

Junior Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Ontario) led the team with a nearly flawless 18 holes, bogeying only twice to finish at even par (71). Archambault currently sits tied for 11th place. Fellow Canadian Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) was close behind Archambault, shooting three-over par (74) to be tied for 30th individually. Seniors Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) and Catherine Herrera (Houston, Texas) both put in solid performances at five-over (76) and are tied for 48th. Junior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) rounded out the squad with an eight-over 79 in the first round.

Halley Morell (Brecksville,Ohio) is also competing in the Hurricane Invitational as an individual and shot an 11-over 82.

Northwestern currently leads the tournament with a total score of 280. The Northwestern duo of Kaitlin Park and Hana Lee lead after the first day as both fired a 68 (-3) on the day.
