UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 2, 2015 - Following a six-point performance in a 14-11 home victory over No. 16/11 Penn on Saturday, Penn State men's lacrosse junior TJ Sanders (Orillia, Ontario) captured Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week accolades. This is the first-ever Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor for a Nittany Lion.
Sanders scored goals in the first (1), second (1) and third (2) quarters and assisted on the eventual game-winner late in the second quarter and a fourth quarter tally, helping Penn State (2-2) to its first win over a ranked team this season. The contest marked the junior's 20th multi-goal game. Sanders also took 12 shots, a single-game high for a Nittany Lion this season, and picked up three ground balls against the Quakers (2-2). Sanders' 2.50 goals per game and 3.50 points per game rank fourth in the Big Ten, and he sits second in the conference with 9.25 shots per game.
Penn State embarks on a Spring Break trip to Massachusetts on Sat., March 7. The team opens the three-game road swing with a noon contest at Harvard.
