UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The No. 15 Nittany Lion women's lacrosse team heads to New Jersey for its inaugural Big Ten contests when it faces Rutgers on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be shown live on Big Ten Network and BTN2Go.

LAST TIME OUT: No. 15 Penn State 17, No. 9 Stanford 15 (March 24)
The 15th-ranked Nittany Lions used a 10-3 run in the final 18 minutes of action to defeat No. 9 Stanford, 17-15, Tuesday afternoon at Penn State Lacrosse Field. Four Nittany Lions registered hat tricks and Maggie McCormick (Eldersburg, Md.) became the program's all-time leading assist leader.

Katie O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa.) had a career-high three goals and her goal total was matched by Tatum Coffey (Toms River, N.J.), Steph Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) and Jenna Mosketti (Fallston, Md.). McCormick dished four assists along with a goal for a game-high five points.

Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) scored two times with an assist and Coffey pitched in with a helper for a four-point day and forcing four crucial turnovers down the stretch. Goalkeeper Emi Smith (Denver, Colo.) came in for the final 18 minutes of the game, saving four shots including two free-position efforts, to keep the Nittany Lion momentum rolling.

MCCORMICK SETS CAREER ASSISTS MARK
Maggie McCormick's four helpers in Tuesday's win over Stanford gave her the Penn State career record for assists, which now sits at 117. McCormick leapfrogged Julie Tice (115, 1997-2000) in the all-time chart.

For her career, McCormick has 232 points split between 115 goals and 117 assists. The 232 points are good for fifth place at Penn State, two behind fourth (234, Beth Thompson, 1983-86). McCormick (115 goals) needs five goals to crack the top 15 goals chart.

BALANCED SCORING
The Nittany Lions have received goals from 14 different sources this season with seven different double-digit scorers in all. Madison Cyr (19) and Steph Lazo (19) lead the bunch followed by Tatum Coffey (17), Jenna Mosketti (16), Maggie McCormick (15), Kelly Lechner (14) and Katie O'Donnell (10).

Two Nittany Lions are on the cusp of 10 goals: Jess Loizeaux (9) and Abby Smucker (8).

CYR COMING ON STRONG
Madison Cyr had a slow start to the 2015 season, but has come on strong by tallying 11 goals in the past four games (2.75 per game). Cyr has a team-high 19 goals with nine of those coming in the first six contests (1.5 per game). Cyr is tied for second on the team with 21 points (19g, 2a).

LAZO LEADING THE LIONS
Despite missing two games with injury, Penn State sophomore Steph Lazo is among the team's leader in goals with 19.

Lazo had a five-goal game against Lehigh and a hat trick against Bucknell before scoring two vs. Duquesne. She found the back of the net once more against Virginia in February and added another hat trick vs. Loyola on March 7. Lazo's hat trick against Stanford was her fifth game with three or more goals.

In all, Lazo has 21 points on the season, second to Maggie McCormick (38, 15-23). Entering 2015, Lazo had only one goal to her name.

CYR, MCCORMICK NAMED TO TEWAARATON AWARD WATCH LIST
Senior Maggie McCormick (Eldersburg, Md.) and junior Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) were named as two of 50 women's lacrosse players to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List on Thursday night, Feb. 26. The Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour, honors the best men's and women's collegiate lacrosse player.

This is the fifth straight season the Nittany Lions have had a representative on the preseason watch list. Potential additions to the watch list will be announced March 19 and April 9 before the first cutdown to 25 players on April 23.

ABOUT THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Rutgers (1-9, 0-0 Big Ten) will look to snap a nine-game skid on Saturday, with its last win coming Feb. 14 against Villanova. Earlier this week, the Scarlet Knights fell, 16-4, at No. 12 Stony Brook.

Rutgers averages 8.60 goals per game, while allowing 13.30 on the other end. The Scarlet Knights average 20.7 shots per game, while allowing 29.6.

The Scarlet Knight offense flows through Lauren Sbrilli and Kim Kolodny. Sbrilli has 21 goals, while Kolodny has 18. Melissa Authur is the team's facilitator with a squad-best 11 assists.

In net, Candice Dandridge has started all 10 games, making 89 saves in 607 minutes of action. She has a 13.05 GAA and a .403 save percentage.

THIS IS B1G
Penn State is one of six members in the inaugural season for Big Ten women's lacrosse. The Nittany Lions join storied programs such as Maryland and its 12 NCAA titles and Northwestern with its seven championships. When PSU's two NCAA crowns are factored in, the Big Ten is the winningest conference in women's lacrosse.

Joining PSU, Maryland and Northwestern are Ohio State, Rutgers and Michigan in the Big Ten fold. Each team will play the other five members of the conference once. The 2015 Big Ten Tournament is set for April 30-May 3 at Rutgers with all six teams participating.

NEXT TIME OUT
Penn State returns home for its last two home games of the season beginning with April 4's contest vs. No. 18 Ohio State. That game will begin at 6 p.m. with a live telecast on Big Ten Network. Penn State will also honor its senior class.
