UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's golf team will look to make a run at qualifying for NCAA Regionals at the Big Ten Championship in Newburgh, IN April 24-26.
The Victoria National Golf Course is a par 72, 6,221-yard layout and will host all 14 conference schools in the four-round tournament. The course is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in America and is home to the PGA Tour Web.com United Leasing Championship.
Seniors Xander McDonald-Smith (Rockaway Park, N.Y.) and Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) will lead the Nittany Lions Friday, with a supporting cast of junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.), sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) and freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.).
Talbert is coming off of a third place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate, while the team will carry momentum from its home tournament title last weekend.
The first 36 holes will be played Friday, followed by the third round Saturday and the final round Sunday. Live scoring can be followed at www.GolfStat.com and recaps will be posted after each day of the Big Ten Championship.
