Indianapolis, Ind. - The Penn State women's golf team completed the initial round of the Big Ten Championship in Indianapolis Friday afternoon. The Nittany Lions opened the event with a 15-over 303 to place 10th. The second round of the Championship opens at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow with Penn State teeing it up at 8:44 a.m.
Junior Grace Chung (Toronto, Ontario) came out firing on all cylinders, finishing with a 73 (+1) to tie for 17th after the first day. Seniors Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.) and Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) played consistently throughout the day, managing a 2-over and a 3-over respectively. Archambault sits in a tie for 23rd place while Elliott is in a tie for 29th.
Senior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) navigated her way to a 9-over (81) on the first day after suffering three double- bogeys. Sophomore Kendall Allen (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and junior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) rounded out the Penn State squad with an 82 (+10) and an 83 (+11), respectively.
Ohio State grabbed the team lead with a 7-under par 281 on the first day. Individually, the Buckeyes' Jan Chanpalangrsi took the lead after carding an impressive 4-under par 68.
