Big Ten Rd 3 Individual Scorin
INIDANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Penn State women's golf team completed the final round of play at the Big Ten Championship Sunday, finishing with a 16-over 304. The solid final round placed the Nittany Lions firmly in 12th place for the tournament with a total of 912 strokes (303-305-304).
Junior Grace Chung (Toronto, Ontario) led the Lions in scoring, carding a 2-over 74 in the third round to place tied for 18th for the tournament with a 6-over 222 (73-75-74). Coach Denise St. Pierre was enamored by Chung's performance saying, "I was happy to see Grace Chung have a great tournament and I hope it will inspire her for next season."
Junior Halley Morell (Brecksville, Ohio) finished a successful first Big Ten Championship off with a 4-over par 76. She finished in a tie for 60th, firing a 17-over (83-74-76) over the three days. Seniors Elyse Archambault (St-Jean-sur-Rich, Que.), Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) and Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) finished off their illustrious careers with consistent final rounds, carding a 77 (+5), 77 (+5), and a 79 (+7), respectively. Archambault finished the tournament tied for 41st (74-77-77-228), Elliott was tied fro 57th (75-80-77-232) and Ceresko was tied for 72nd (81-79-79-239). Sophomore Kendall Allen (Pittsburgh, Pa.) rounded out the squad with a 9-over 81 on the final day.
Ohio State and Northwestern shared the team title, both finishing the tournament with a 1-under 863. Individually, Sarah Cho of Northwestern finished on top after firing a decisive 71 (-1) on the final day with a 3-under par overall score.
