Nittany Lion Football Adds Kevin Reihner to Roster

May 18, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Penn State head coach James Franklin announced the addition of offensive lineman Kevin Reihner (Scranton) to the Nittany Lion football roster for the 2015 season. Reihner transfers to Penn State after earning his undergraduate degree from Stanford University while playing three seasons for the Cardinal.

"We are excited to have Kevin join our family," Franklin said. "He comes to us with great experience at the collegiate level and has the opportunity to make an immediate impact for us. It's awesome that Kevin can return home to Pennsylvania to close out his college career."

While at Stanford, he appeared in 10 games. As a redshirt junior, he saw time in six games to help an offense that averaged 388.6 total yards per game. Reihner also played in three games as a sophomore and one game as a freshman.

A native of Scranton, Reihner was a 2010 Pennsylvania Sportswriters AAA All-State second team selection at Scranton Prep. Additionally, he garnered Scranton Times All-Region accolades and Lackawanna Conference coaches' all-star honors as a senior. As a high school recruit, he was the 15th-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania by Rivals and 24th-ranked guard prospect in the country by Scout in 2010.

Reihner joins fellow offensive lineman Noah Beh and defensive tackle Joe Holmes on the list of current Nittany Lions on the roster from Scranton Prep.

The Penn State bloodlines run deep as Reihner's father, George, was an offensive lineman for the Nittany Lions from 1974-77 and his uncle, John, was a kicker for Penn State from 1972-75. Kevin Reihner will wear #68 for the Nittany Lions this season, the same number worn by his father. Additionally, Reihner's brother, George, played at Army (1998-00).

Reihner graduated from Stanford in March with a degree in management science and engineering.

The Nittany Lions open the 2015 campaign on the road against Temple at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 5.
