Darcey, Florence Named to B1G All-Tournament Team

May 2, 2015

COLLEGE PARK, Md.; May 2, 2015 - After strong performances in Penn State's semifinal game at the inaugural Big Ten Tournament on April 30, redshirt-sophomores Connor Darcey (Wellesley, Mass.) and Matt Florence (Greenwood Village, Colo.) were selected to the Big Ten Men's Lacrosse All-Tournament Team on Saturday.

Darcey was outstanding in the cage for the Nittany Lions, making 17 saves, just one shy of his career high. His performance featured 11 stops in the first half alone, nearly four times more than his counterpart, Eric Schneider.

Florence recorded two goals and two assists to lead the Nittany Lions on the day, taking a team-best nine shots. His two goals, the first of which came on the man-up, were scored four seconds apart, tying the NCAA Division I record set by Virginia Military Institute in 2012.

The team was announced following the conclusion of the tournament's championship game on Saturday, which featured a 13-6 victory by No. 1-seeded Johns Hopkins over No. 3-seeded Ohio State. The Blue Jays earn an automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament.
