UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's tennis junior Roman Trkulja (Toronto, Canada) was selected to represent Tennis Canada at the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Universiade Games this summer in Gwangju, Korea. The games are July 3-14, 2015.
Trkulja is one of six players attending NCAA schools to be selected for the team. Trkulja was selected for the honor after going 18-13 overall in singles, including 12-10 in dual matches. The junior ended the year on a six-match win streak.
The Toronto native also earned 11 doubles wins this year, with five of those victories coming in the spring.
The Universiade Games are held every two years in various cities around the world. The event features over 12,000 student-athletes from over 170 countries, competing in the multi-sport games.
Trkulja helped Penn State to earn 15 wins this season, including five in the Big Ten and six against ranked opponents.
