EUGENE, Ore. -- The Nittany Lion duo of Elizabeth Chikotas (Hellertown, Pa.) and Tori Gerlach (Perkasie, Pa.) closed out competition for the Penn State track & field program Saturday on the final day of the 2015 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Historic Hayward Field. Both Chikotas and Gerlach competed in the 5,000-meter run.
Following a 14th-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday, Gerlach returned to the track Saturday for the 5,000-meter run.
Gerlach, a junior, posted a 10th-place finish in her 5,000-meter run debut at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Gerlach recorded a time of 16 minutes, 00.28 seconds to finish 10th. Her time Saturday is the second-fastest of her career.
Also representing the Blue and White of Penn State in the 5,000-meter run, Chikotas tallied a 19th-place finish. Chikotas, a true freshman, clocked in at 16:34.43 in her NCAA Championships debut. In the field of 24 competitors, Chikotas was one of three true freshmen running.
