June 2, 2015 UNIVERSIY PARK, Pa. -
Ground-breaking recently took place for the Hawbaker Pavilion at the Penn State Golf Courses, providing a much-needed permanent facility for events held at the Blue and White Courses.
For more than 20 years, the Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. Charity Golf Outing has been held at the Penn State Golf Courses and tents for their event, and others, were erected and dismantled throughout the year. Dan Hawbaker, president of GOH, Inc. and the Hawbaker family proposed to Penn State replacing the tents with a permanent structure with a capacity of 300-plus people.
The Hawbaker family generously offered to build the facility. Construction has begun on the Hawbaker Pavilion, which will be located adjacent to the Walker Clubhouse. The pavilion will have an unobstructed view of the first hole of the White Course.
Dan Hawbaker, and sons Michael and Patrick, met May 29 with Sandy Barbour, Penn State Director of Athletics, Joe Hughes, General Manager of the Penn State Golf Courses, and other ICA officials at the Hawbaker Pavilion construction site.
The Hawbaker Pavilion is scheduled for completion in July, 2015.
Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. was founded by Glenn O. and Thelma Hawbaker in 1952 and is based in State College, Pa.
