Two Newcomers Collect All-America Showcase Invites

June 3, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; June 3, 2015 - Two incoming Nittany Lions were invited to participate in the 10th annual Under Armour All-America Senior Showcase on July 3, which features the top 44 2015 graduates in the country. Hosted by Towson University, attackman Grant Ament (Haverford, Pa.) and long stick midfielder Thomas Wright (Garden City, N.Y.) will compete live on ESPNU at 8 p.m.

A panel of experts coordinated by Inside Lacrosse and Under Armour selected the invitees, chosen from their suggestions and nominations received via InsideLacrosse.com, and divided the final 44 picks into teams based on hometown. Ament and Wright will play respectively on the north and south teams.

Ament and the Haverford Fords finished the year 26-0, topping the Nike/LM High School Boys' Top 25. He was named an Under Armour All-American and an All-EPCLA honoree this season after leading Delco with 110 points (37 goals, 63 assists). He was recently selected to the U.S. Men's National Under-19 Team 108-player tryout pool.

Also selected to the U.S. U-19 Team tryout pool, Wright was a 2015 All-USA Preseason Boys Lacrosse team honoree after a Nassau County Long Stick Midfielder of the Year junior campaign. Widely regarded as one of the top long poles in the county, he helped lead Garden City to conference championships his freshman and sophomore years.

Last season, rising Penn State sophomores Ryan Keenan (Smithtown, N.Y.), Tanner Peck (Lincoln University, Pa.) and Will Schreiner (Kemblesville, Pa.) participated in the contest. This season on attack, Keenan posted a goal and three assists in 10 games, and Peck scored once, making three appearances.

The Big Ten has the second-most selections of any NCAA Division I men's lacrosse conference with 11. The ACC leads the pack with 17, helped by four picks each attending Duke, Syracuse and North Carolina this fall. The Ivy League boasts nine selections and five participants will attend Patriot League schools.
