COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Carly Celkos (Berlin, N.J.), Skyler Fretz (Oley, Pa.), Laura Gebhart (Mount Joy, Pa.), Bethany Mink (Allentown, Pa.) and Kasey Morano (Hammonton, N.J.) have been selected for the 2015 Young Women's National Championship, USA Field Hockey announced. Additionally, Mink was named to the 2015-16 U.S. Women's National Indoor team.
The Young Women's National Championship serves as a high level, international structured competition and the selection venue for the 2015-16 U.S. Women's Under 21 National Team. It will be contested June 22-26 at the Spooky Nook Sports complex in Lancaster, Pa.
To make the indoor squad, Mink went through four tryouts and was one of 15 selected from the initial pool of 230.
Mink, a rising senior, saw her role increase on the Nittany Lion squad last season, appearing in 16 games and drawing a start against No. 3 Connecticut. She also tallied an assist in the team's season-opening win against No. 9 Old Dominion.
Celkos has appeared in 37 games with 22 starts in her first two seasons with the Blue and White. She started all 22 games in the midfield last season and tallied her first career goal against No. 14 Princeton. Celkos also tallied a pair of assists.
Fretz played in six games on defense as a rookie last season, playing a personal-high 31 minutes in the NCAA Quarterfinal matchup at No. 4 Syracuse. Classmate Morano made 11 appearances last season, scoring one goal on five shots.
The recently graduated Gebhart brings the lone national team experience to the group as a member of the National Team. She has also served as a captain of the 2013 U.S. Junior World Cup Squad and of the U-21 Team at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival. She was a four-time All-American and All-Big Ten selection throughout her stellar career.
