UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's soccer incoming recruiting class has been ranked second nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com, the website announced on Friday. The Nittany Lions welcomed eight freshmen and one transfer to the program this fall.

Taylor Campbell-Phipps (State College, Pa.), Ellie Jean (Coventry, Conn.), Cecilia Knaub (Phoenixville, Pa.), Alina Ortega-Jurado (Wetzlar, Germany), Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.), Kristin Schnurr (Bristow, Va.), Marissa Sheva (Sellersville, Pa.) and Charlotte Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) make up the incoming freshman class, while Nickolette Driesse (Wayne, N.J.), a junior, transferred to Penn State from Florida State.

This is the second-straight year that the Penn State women's soccer recruiting class has been ranked second by TopDrawerSoccer. Last year, then-freshman Frannie Crouse (Greensburg, Pa.) led the team in goals (10) and Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

The Nittany Lions open the season next Friday (Aug. 21) as they host Hofstra at Jeffrey Field at 7:30 p.m.
