UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey freshman midfielder Katie Dembrowski (Palmyra, Pa.) was named Big Ten Freshman Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. This marks the first time in her career that Dembrowski has earned Big Ten weekly honors.
Freshman Katie Dembrowski scored the first goal in the fourth minute of the first half off a corner against Temple Friday night in University Park, Pa. Junior Kirsten Gochnauer found Dembrowski on the corner attempt just left of the goal at the top of the circle, and she blasted it into the back of the cage.
Penn State will be back in action Friday as they host California at 6 p.m. for Military Appreciation Day.
