BOSTON - The Penn State women's hockey team fell to No. 7/8 Boston University, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at the Walter Brown Arena. BU and PSU split the first-ever series between the two programs.

The Nittany Lions fall to 1-3-0 on the season, while the Terriers improve to 3-1-0.

Unlike last night's game, neither team found the back of the net until midway through the second period. Scoring her second goal in as many games, Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) put the Nittany Lions up 1-0, 7:49 into the middle period.

After forcing a turnover in the Nittany Lion end, Bowman received a pass in the neutral zone from high school teammate, Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) and moved up the ice before blasting a shot past the BU goalie for the 1-0 lead.

Looking for the game-tying goal, the Terriers continued to press the Nittany Lions throughout the middle frame of play.

With less than five minutes to play in the second period, BU tied the game at one off of a Samantha Sutherland goal. Sutherland followed up her own shot and collected the rebound for the game-tying goal. The score did not hold for long as BU took the lead for the first time in the series 84 seconds later.

BU captured the 2-1 lead on Rebecca Leslie's goal at the 16:37 mark in the second period. With a two-on-one opportunity in the Nittany Lion zone, Rebecca Russo passed the puck to Leslie and she connected on a one-timer for the go-ahead score.

The Terriers added one more goal with less than five minutes to play in regulation. Sammy Davis tallied her fourth goal of the season on a BU power play with 4:29 left in the third period.

Sophomore goalie Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) made a season-high 34 saves for Penn State, while BU goalie Erin O'Neil recorded 27 saves.

The Nittany Lions return home to the Pegula Ice Arena for pair of games against Union (Oct. 17-18). Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. (Oct. 17) and 2 p.m. (Oct. 18).
