LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven hung on for a 1-0 victory over Penn State field hockey on Sunday afternoon at Charlotte E. Smith Field.

Lock Haven (13-2, 3-2 A-10) scored the game's only goal on one of their two shot attempts in the game. In the 15th minute, Rachel Valentine took the ball down the right side of the field and chipped in a goal inside the left post.

Penn State (5-9, 1-3 Big Ten), as they have in all but three games this season, outshot their opponent with a game high nine shot attempts - four on goal - while also earning 12 penalty corners.

Lock Haven's shot total (2) and penalty corners figures (0) were season lows, well below the Bald Eagles season averages of 13.1 shots per game, and 6.46 penalty corners per game.

Freshman midfielder Aurelia Meijer (Hatten, Netherlands) was very active on both sides of the ball, recording six shot attempts - four on goal - while also being a key contributor on defense.

The loss brings the all-time series record to 19-15-1, in favor of the Nittany Lions, in a series dating back to 1964.

Penn State will travel to Piscataway, N.J. for a Big Ten Conference match up against Rutgers Friday that will be featured on BTN Plus. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
